Exactly Phil! At the end of the day they are all JUST cars... Even Corvettes!

BMW = Bendover Me Wantit

Better get a part time job Phil. It's gonna cost a lot more than the CRX did to keep that beast running if you want to AX it...

Pretty much. BMW is made for the middle-upper class yuppy climbing the corporate ladder. They are meant to be parked in the yard to impress your neighbors that you too are successful... Then get it in the garage overnight so all the plastic parts don't crack. They were not really designed to be flogged by the 10%, at most, of you who have taken them to an AX or track. Take your friends to diner with it. Turn a couple of corners fast and impress them. Not too hard, the shock towers break...

And all this time I've been parking mine in the garage! I guess I'll be parking the civic in there tonight!

That's funny, I just hope folks saw the  at the end!!!

Is that the event your bringing out the vette?????

actually the Corvette has been to VIR two years ago at a Car Guys event. so this will be the second track endeavor for the Queen. i figure CMP will have low concentration of traffic and plenty of passing oppurtunity (for everyone else). if i become a roadblock i will just pit in.

besides the BMW is broken. doooooowh! damn plastic radiators.

Yeah, but I heard that at VIR it was just doing parade laps and that you got carpal tunnel elbow giving the Miatas, Civics, and Yugos point bys. And if you go to CMP's world of brake pad hell, you may have to have Dave come down with you so your brake pads can be changed after two sessions.

I wanted to sell mine but the boss said no. The only reason I wanted to sell it was because I was getting a little bit sick of working on it. Now that I have most of the 100k crap fixed(only the radiator is left), I am looking forward to driving the crap out of it and dominating BSP this season. :nana:

I prefer Bleed My Wallet

My 328i just rolled over 200k this week and it's still my favorite car to drive. Recent repairs include clutch/flywheel, bushings, ball joints, shocks, belts, brakes....brakes... brakes,,,, tires... tires... tires... Yeah, some parts wear in proportion to the amount of fun you've had in the left seat.
The only part that failed was the rear sway bar mount that snapped off, .

I look at it as 'it takes a lot of repairs to equal even one car payment' and this 10 year old car is better looking, faster, handles better, and is more fun to drive than any new car I've been in. - so IMO, with the exception of Miatas, the rest suck. 8)

Except KITT. KITT is a real person.

Regarding the yuppie thread.. when I started work at IBM, all of the newly minted managers bought either a 325e or a Mercedes 190. They parked them at the bottom of the lot 'way away from the rest us. Then one fine summer day the transmission on a college co-op's '67 Comet popped out of park, and you can guess the rest.

Sounds familiar...when I worked for IBM in the early-mid 80's, I was grouped into the "yuppie" category because I drove a "BMW" (1972 E3, Bavaria). The fact that it was lowered, had monster (for the time) 8x16 wheels all around, a built 3.0 liter M30 6-cylinder with a Schrick 304 cam, triple sidedraft Webers, headers, etc., and idled like a Super Stock drag car all feel on deaf ears to the whacko yuppie tag folks. :) You would think they'd get a clue seeing and hearing that monster, but no, it was a "BMW".

Phil,

Mark White has a parts car available for $2000 (pretty sure that is the price I saw).

Damn shame a tree fell on his M3 :(

Ryan, you know you want to part out a BMW.

I don't know, I already have 1 BMW in the yard, 2 would start a trend I don't really wanna start.

I hear you can't wash that stuff off once you get it on you

That is the SECOND Bmw product that has been in your salvage yard. I think you are well on the way!
