Doesn't look like they welded anything extra on the strut. Looks like they cut one of the perches more than the other. Bring your instructions to the TnT. I would like to take a look at them.

I can't find a picture of them right now, but when I did the GCs on my old E30, I got the new perches direct from GC. They were like a giant washer with a big hole in the middle, and a flat cut on one side for tire clearance.

PS - AST coilovers FTW. I'm done w/ Koni/GC until Koni updates the venerable twin-tube shock technology and starts supplying well-designed threaded bodies. For a decent price.

i have heard, again no real knowledge here, that Koni now has a coilover that is liquid filled rather than gas charged. i will probably be going in that direction.

All shocks are liquid filled.. its called shock oil. :P Konis like to expose this design secret be secreting it on a regular basis.

Koni's are twin tube though, and are not gas pressurized like say, a monotube Bilstein that is.

Maybe you got it backwards and Konis is coming out w/ a mass production gas charged monotube?

key goes in ignition, gas goes in filler opening. everything else is greek to me.

my impression was the new Koni's were similar to the Corvette shocks with the magnetic adjustability. mystery oil maybe?
