So I've got a coolant leak that I think is coming from the passenger-side upper hose at the high side and another leak from the little return hose that rides above the radiator.
The small hose has been leaking for about a month, but it's minimal. I'm just wondering why I'm getting leaks now. The hoses have about 30k on them and have never leaked before, but I think they are after market, so they don't have that ribbed inner part near the end like the "BringMyWallet" brand.
The radiator, and all hoses were replaced around 30k ago, the car has around 105k on it. Thanks!
I hate to be obvious, but have you tried to just tighten up the hose clamps? I've had that happen to me in the past where there is some minimal shrinking of the hose and a little tighten up on the clamp solved the leak.
Depending on how you have driven the car and if your motor/tranny mounts have been replaced, you can get an oscillating motion of the rocking of the engine as you run though the gears. (found this discussed on bimmerforums) That rocking motion can weaken the plastic radiator hose connection and cause a crack. Have you also replaced your thermostat housing? The factory plastic ones can fail and leak, a very common problem on the e36.
Just my 2cents here… good luck with the fix.
