if your front control arms are original then yes you are ready for a refresh. i thought you had done the M3 hats flipped thing Rodney. what do you need the extra camber for?

yeah, I have the flipped hats, but that only gets you about 2.3-2.5 negitive. I've also dialed out as much rear camber as I can to give me some difference. I'm currently about 1.5 in the rear.

From what I've read on bimmerforums, bimmerhaus and so on, for the car to hook up correctly, you need about 3.5n up front and 2-2.5n in the rear. I think w/ the stock rear setup, I can dail in about 2 in the rear w/ no custom control arm. The camber plates should get me what I need for the front.

That may also change my sway bar setup. Most of what I read, autox folks use a heavy front bar and stock M3 rear bar. I'm running H&R bars right now. Just need a test and tune and some seat time to see what works for me.

Where you at next year?

no airports or parking lots for me Rodney.

need a TnT for the new body rigidity and then i look into new suspension set-up. brake ducting, and i am done modding for now. i might do the AV monday track day in February to get a feel for the car. still juggling my anniversary weekend however.

with any luck 6 to 8 track weekends next season. definitely more if i can find the time and the cha-ching.

Say it ain't so. $150+ per hp (both of them that you'll gain) isn't my idea of a good deal.

WOW, I got an early start

Done since the last AX:
Koni's
Ground Controls
T^3 Camber Plates

Totally transformed the car, -4° of front camber will do wonders  :)

Left to do:
Install Corbeau's V2
Seat Back Brace (I think)
Passenger Side Harness
Fine more track tires on the cheap
Install switch for Transponder
Oil Temp Gauge

Unfortunately Wes is right. I went from the Racing Beat 4-2-1 (The 2-1 weld broke) to the stocker and then back to the Racing Beat (The 2-1 weld broke in a different spot), then back to the stocker

I couldnt tell the difference, the stock 1.6 Miata exhaust mani is pretty damn good.

Install bigger spring ( torsion bar ) done, I just need to adjust the ride height now.
This will be done when I'm finish replacing the rear window with a Lexan one mounted in a flush frame.
Some maintenance, brake flush, pads, oil etc.

I might do more AX with the Miata in STS2, I had fun at the last 2 AX I did with it.
I was thinking about an header for it but if there is not that much of difference I will leave it alone. I will put that money on a new soft top instead.

Merry Christmas and Happy New Year to all.

Continue replacing all the crappy BMW bushings. Engine mounts, diff mounts, rear control arm bushings, guibo blah blah blah.

c'mon Marcus show some love for the ultimate driving machine. they aren't crappy bro the are consumables.

my top radiator hose bib sheared off recently. you might want to check that.

what up with the guibo?

I think the coolant leak is from a loose bolt in the t-stat housing or water pump. It's coming from somewhere near there. I just have not felt like taking the fan and all that crap off to see where it's coming from.

The guibo has several cracks in it. My engine mounts are cracked also.

Rodney,

You should get some decent tires before you try changing everything to try and make it handle better. IIRC you are still running 4 year old RT 215's.

I found it for about half price new, so I didn't throw away a whole lot. I may even sit on it for a while. I am thinking that I may supercharge this car eventually and from what I have read this one is S/C friendly and the RB one is not.

Is your car a 1.6 or 1.8?

You didn't see my other thread.... New RE01R's are on there merry way via Santa's sleigh. As for changing parts, heck, that's half the fun of autocrossing!! I am though, only changing/upgrading what I need to make the car handle better along w/ some maintenance items. I'm still a LONG way off of doing all the mods allowed for STS.

1. transmission oil change
2. alignment

First car I've owned that I have virtually zero desire to modify. :)

Well, if I get my motorcycle finished (just have bleed the Servo and 14 other places) and get that 814 lb behemoth out of the garage I think I will just do:

Roll Bar (been on back porch for 18 mos.)
Stainless Steel Brake Lines
New Guages (mabey VK will come over and help)

Have you pulled a code on this. I thought the same thing with one of my cars, I couln't understand why it was intermittent and ran great once I got over idle rpm, turned out to be an EGR flow problem. I have cleaned out some of the vacuum hoses and it is better. I HATE TO OFFER MECHANICAL OPINIONS BECAUSE IT USUALLY MAKES ME LOOK STUPID, BUT HEY IT'S CHRISTMAS!

Sounds like the idle control valve. They can cause a poopy idle and might need to be cleaned. It's located under the itake manifold and abitch to get at.
