Doh!

I'm going to have to keep an eye on you guys!

Very true.

Rodney, I think you are looking at it from the wrong direction. The only reason you are allowed to replace control arms in the first place is for "camber adjustment". The new control arms don't really need to adjust camber but if you do replace them with something other than what came on your model of car, you can't take advantage of the camber plate allowance. If you use plates as your "camber adjustment", you aren't allowed to muck with your control arms.

Can you swap the control arms and use crash bolts? If that's legal, do that and skip the camber plates.

Nope. 14.8.I.2 specifically prohibits changing control arms in combination with any other form of camber adjustment.
Quote:
14.8.I.2 On arm-and-strut (MacPherson/Chapman) suspensions, the
lower arms may be modified/replaced OR other methods of
camber adjustment as allowed by paragraphs 14.8.B, C, or G
may be used, but not both.

Thinking about bleeding the brakes. That's about it.

I posted the question of "can a M3 FLCA be used on a 328 in STS" on bimmerforums and I was soundly flogged for my stupidity of asking an asinine question. Now I know and therefore I admit defeat and will replace the FLCA with a stock part. After 4 years of flogging the car and 80+k in miles on the current parts, I think it wise to replace. Now I just need to figure out which camber plates to use w/ M3 struts. IIRC, motor force has a nice set of plates that can be used w/ stock struts.

freak'n rules....

And to add to my list of actions, I think it's time for new RLCA bushing, motor and tranny mounts as well.

Option 3: Buy Camaro and cruise for chicks with Jim P.

Option 4: Take up synchronized swimming.

Well, I'm hoping for the DS route. So we can punt the Buckle to third. :P
If Jim takes up synchronized swimming, I'm driving the the BRB MINI some more.

In which case, my prep consists of more tires. Oh. . . I might put an oil pressure gauge in it. And buff out some cone marks.

This will be my first season with the Miata. I intend to learn a lot from the Breakey boys in STS2. So far I have added the Racing Beat catback and intake. I have a Jackson Racing header on the way. Hopefully the 3 will sold this weekend and that will free up money for a roll-bar and some other goodies/maintenance that a 93 NA will require.

*Trying* not to spend too much more money  -

Hopefully over the holidays:
- get tach driver installed so shift light will work
- wire up low OP warning light
- install CarPC screen and Pioneer HU
- roll my fenders (215 Sumitomo's are big suckers!)

'08:
- Oil cooler
- Oil separator/catch can
- Race seats - think I've found 2 that I'll be happy with
- Autopower roll bar
- 15in AX-only or 16in track/AX wheels
- have enough $ left to run VIR in Feb

There isn't a person on the planet that would have found this without pulling parts previously to find it. Bryan hadn't noticed it either and I just happened to notice it after pulling the car apart.

All I can say, is that it's now fixed. Besides, that's our advantage. No one wants to spend the money or time to figure out the odd ball car out there... especially when the factory manual is $600. - AB

I'm glad you guys found it. It would have sucked for someone else to find it and call you guys Hippocrates.

BTW - did you see the article in Sportscar about protesting. It seemed to be directed at Crembor, et al. Basically saying that if you don't make absolutely sure that your car is legal, then you shouldn't be upset when someone files the paperwork on you. Actually a good read, I thought.

Oops, sorry for trying to get this thread off topic. I'll steer it back now...

Plans are for replacing some wear items and that kind of thing. And to get my brandy new RE-01Rs mounted. An alignment is definately in order. I would like a RB hollow front bar as well. Oh and I will definately get getting the BHP Hotness for stopping power.

Jeb, between you Bernie and I, we should have a blast this year. Probably won't see Adam much as he is now a Track Rat. Matter of fact, Bernie bought his green Miata.

yeah, I have the flipped hats, but that only gets you about 2.3-2.5 negitive. I've also dialed out as much rear camber as I can to give me some difference. I'm currently about 1.5 in the rear.

From what I've read on bimmerforums, bimmerhaus and so on, for the car to hook up correctly, you need about 3.5n up front and 2-2.5n in the rear. I think w/ the stock rear setup, I can dail in about 2 in the rear w/ no custom control arm. The camber plates should get me what I need for the front.

That may also change my sway bar setup. Most of what I read, autox folks use a heavy front bar and stock M3 rear bar. I'm running H&R bars right now. Just need a test and tune and some seat time to see what works for me.

Where you at next year?
