I'm changing the transmission fluid in the Boxster and need a special socket to remove the drain plug. It looks like a tamper proof torx but has twelve sides instead of six.

I found it on the internet for $6.38 by searching on "16mm XZN Audi/VW Drain Plug Socket". The car is aready up on jackstands to change the sparkplugs and I would like to finish the oil change tomorrow if I can find the socket.

If you don't have any luck I'm SURE that Paul at Black Forest (Adam Ligon's shop) in Cary has one and would do a quick loan to you. 468-5400.

I have two of those style. One is an 8mm (914 CV joint bolt) and I can't remember the size of the larger one. It is in that range. It might be a 12mm or it might be larger. I can't check until I get home.

Money can't buy happiness, but somehow it's more comfortable to cry in a Porsche than a Kia.

If it's the same one that fits the Porsche CV joint bolts, I picked up a set at pep boys in their special tools section. It was metric and had 4 sizes of which I can't recall

My father used to sell snap-on tools until a few years ago. I have PM'd you the contact information for a few local snap-on dealers. although expensive might be an option if you need the part soon.
