What would be more important if I setup 2 numerical gauges?

Water Temp + Oil Pressure or WT and Oil Temp?

Should I get a 3 gauge pod and have all 3?

All three. The stock water temp gauge is inaccurate at best. For temp gauges use electric. For pressure I prefer mechanical due to faster response and more graduations. PM me for more info.

Nope - Vincent's for cooking my car

After the talk of specific oil/water temps, I didn't like the idea of only knowing OK/boiling.

Edit - and Vincent is helping with gauge ideas 8)

Vincent is right. With the stock dash gauges you really don't know the accurate information. My stock water temp gauge is way off.
I really want to know my oil temp. I never thought about oil pressure, but probably should.

Now that you know the temp you need an oil cooler!

Instead you have a A/F gauge that doesn't even work. Install an OPG old man!

A question, because inquiring minds need to know.
Do any of you guys do this?
Install your water temp/oil temp and oil pressure gauges. Then, when you get to the track, run the track, and when the gauges are up to correct reading, mark the face of the gauge with a grease pencil where the needle sets. Then, reseat the gauges so that all the needles will be vertical when you’re underway and all temps and pressures are good. That way, when you’re going down the back straight at 130 mph :car: (or whatever) your peripheral vision will take care of seeing the gauges, and you’ll notice right away if there’s a variation from vertical on any of the needles.

Again, just curious. Seems like a good idea…..from someone who’s too big a woosie to get on the track.

Welcome to the NASCAR driver's ideas 101. They have been doing the "straight up is all good" trick for many many years. For me personally there's now way I could live with all the gauge faces being crooked. It would annoy the living piss out of me!

You got me! But I got you back. You and Brian Vickers. He'd blow an engine before he'd ergonomically align his gauges. He said it made him crazy. By the way, the fighter jets that Bernie worked on all had ergonomic design. (Of course the gauges were specific to the jet, so the faces were aligned too.)

I still think it's a cool idea.

I saw that show on Speed when they spent 10 minutes discussing the alignment of gauges and which drivers did what. That was hilarious what Vickers said :-)

Vickers drives a Toyota (often in the rear of the field) so who cares if he blows an engine?

True, true. But maybe if he could read his gauges maybe he'd know before he blows....of course it wouldn't stop him from finishing 42nd.
