Needs some work on the interior, but for the money... I dunno

There is something about that car that I do like. I know E30's get a bum rap and I kid Dan for his all the time. For some reason I keep looking at them.

Hell I have never even drove a freakin' BMW. I have pumped the brake pedal in Steve Remchak's and Keith Strassle's car to help them bleed the brakes.

I never drove one either until VIR Full a couple years back when I drove Secosky's spec E30ish... Then I drove Cooper's at Rockingham the following fall... the next feb I was tracking one, it was mine by April.

Dang, if it weren't for the gutted interior and welded in cage, I'd be interested. Oh well.

If you stumble across any other '84 318i's, let me know.

I dunno if I'd call it a bum rap ... just with E36's getting cheap and E30s not getting cheaper or more plentiful, why bother? More stuff breaks on E30s, plain and simple. I loved my E30. It was great and I got to learn how to fix a lot of things. I also probably dumped $10-15k into it over the 6 years I owned it.

Do you want a tool for track and autocross, or do you want something to tinker with that is unique and interesting and will keep your hands busy and wallet engaged?

There's a reason so many people are driving E36s now. It's a common but effective tool.

Yeah, and since you're going to bust it in a few thousand miles, the high mileage doesn't matter! With all the go-fast parts, you'll also have a good sale afterwards!

Copy cat! That is a great price. You would be hard pressed to find even a stock 5spd for that price.

So when is the first THSCC drift event?

Money can't buy happiness, but somehow it's more comfortable to cry in a Porsche than a Kia.

Congratulations on the find. You needed a change for your signature anyway. For the last few weeks it should have been ending with

zoom, Zoom, BOOM!

Even for a tinkering car that mileage is a bit high. Is that the original drivetrain?

Good luck with it

Rob
