So, I have a friend who just bought a Boxster, and needs brakes front and rear. Anyone have any experience/recommendations? Should I consider helping him do this? Or run away?

It also needs 60K mile service which includes spark plugs and accessory belt replacement. I'm thinking this might be tough considering the zero access to the engine from the top and the boxer engine layout.

The brakes are a breeze to change the pads. All you have to do is pull the c-clips, pull the pins and take the pads out the top. Bleeding them is time consuming, as there are 8 bleeder screws. Do the inside screw on each caliper first - standard stuff for the Brembo calipers.

Not a clue about belts and plugs.

Money can't buy happiness, but somehow it's more comfortable to cry in a Porsche than a Kia.

The front rotors are also very straight forward to replace. I have not done the rear rotors. The bolts that have to be removed to get the rotors off are not suppose to be reused but I reused them. I was going to get new ones from the dealer but never did.

You can get to the sparkplugs by removing the rear wheels. You may have to remove a fender liner. It's been a while since I did mine and I'm not sure about the fender liner.

The belt is easy to replace. It just takes a little time to get to it. There is a large access panel directly behind the seats. Pull the carpet from behind the seats. I think that the top has to be disconnected and pulled forward(the owners manual shows how to do this) so that the storage compartment behind the seats can be removed. There are no screws holding the carpet in place. Remove the access panel and you will see the belt. Put a socket and breaker bar on the belt idler arm and release the tension on the belt. It should slide right off. I don't remember if you pull clockwise or counterclockwise on the idler arm.
