I have the Goodyear one as well, bought sometime in late summer last year. No issues breaking lugs off with it. I think I found it on sale at Pepboys for $79.

Has anyone tried using an inverter and a corded impact wrench? I was thinking about going that route.

I'd be very surprised if that worked well. For one, AC motors don't like cheap inverters because the cheap ones don't produce very good sine waves, and AC motors like a nicely formed wave. You have to get much more expensive "true sine wave" inverters for that, and the cost is going to bite you on this unless you have other uses for it.

You'd also need a reasonably hefty inverter for much of an electric impact.

I've got the bigger Snap-On and love it. It handles 100 ft/lb stuff fine. Analog trigger. I can pretty safely torque lugs down with it, too, as a hit or two seems to get to about 70 ft/lbs and no more. It's expensive, though. But the Snap-On compressor that they have that uses the same batteries is *awesome*...it runs about three times faster than most 12V corded (and all other cordless) compressors I've seen. Plus it is nice having everything use the same battery.

Update on the Goodyear one. I've been using it for 6 months or so and it's great. Spins off almost any lugnuts. Charges fine, easy modulation of the trigger.

It's $70 after a rebate right now, and PepBoys has a $10 off $50 purchase coupon, making it a good deal:

I'm going to go buy $50 worth of Mobil One for $40 :)

Printed the coupon. I think I'm going to pick up a spare - still using the crap out of mine. Cosby, you should pick up a replacement.

Try a couple different ones. I used to buy strange weight stuff for the 996TT and could often find it at Wal-Mart, but not at every store. Seemed the bigger the store the more likely it was to have it, so if you've gone big already you may indeed be out of luck. Just mentioning they don't all seem to carry the same stuff...

The SuperDuper WallyWorld up at Briar Creek doesn't have Mobil 1 in 0W-40. I was in there a couple of days ago. 5w-30 yes. The good news is they now carry Royal Purple 5w-30. Good price and my LS6 really likes that stuff.

Must be something about Purple with me lately...

Btw, If those cheap impact guns last more than a year at the price listed that's not a bad deal at all. My sears impact still works great and is now almost 4 years old. But is cost a bit more than $60...

I picked up one of these a few weeks ago and it performs fine. Except my trigger is an on/off switch. Is it faulty or have I missed some magic button somewhere?
