Wasn't me, but we had a missed shift in testing today in the RSX-S and blew something in the motor. Will know in an hour or so if we can get by with just a head, but short of that, anyone know where I might pick up a motor even semi-locally by tomorrow morning? Obviously need something in running condition. Email me or post here. djb@donniebarnes.com

New, used, whatever. Just need a liberated and running K20.

Donnie, here are a few options

Real Local
Japan Direct
http://usedengine.com/
RDU area
Heard good things about these guys, but never used them before.

Kind of local
Import auto Salvage
http://www.importautosalvage.com
Marion, NC
Heard good things about these guys, but never used them before.

Not so local
Hmotors online
http://www.hmotorsonline.com/
California
This is where I got my motor from. It came in pretty good shape. they were pretty easy to deal with and seemed to sell good stuff. My motor is doing well after almost 2 years. Ask for Steve.

Get the vasoline ready as they motor isn't going to be cheap. Does it need to be stock? You might be able to find cheaper options if you mix and match with the k24. Mmmm, more torque.

The few examples I have seen of mis-shifter k20's resulted in extensive lower end damage. I would prepare for the worse.

good luck

Going to Marion first thing tomorrow morning. They have a 44k mile K20 with tranny, harness, and computer for $4200. We'll still need to use our JDM tranny for the better gear ratio, but I can convert this tranny later to have a spare. Getting the ECU and harness just in case, but Endicott says we can swap the JDM cams to the US motor and we should be able to not only run our same ECU program, but we will get better mileage at a sacrifice of only about 10HP. Hopefully the cam swap isn't any big deal, but Saini can get Endicott or any of a number of King guys on the phone pretty fast to talk us through stuff.

If the cam swap is too painful, then we'll just go stock with the US motor and live down about 20-25HP. Hoping to still make qualifying tomorrow night at VIR at 7:30. Ugh.

Ouch, well glad they have what you need. I really like hondas, but it just doesn't seem to make much sense when you could probably by 2 LS1s for that. LS1 RSX, now that would be a honda moving in the right direction.

See, this guy has already figured it out.

Hope you get things back together in time.

Hmm, so that's what Larry was up to that he couldn't make the header I ordered from him for 4 weeks.

Thanks Endyn!

Just as an FYI, I'm back from Marion with the motor (as of about 45 minutes ago) and assembly is in progress. The guys at that place were great to deal with and really know their stuff. They include *everything* with the motor that was bolted to it except the chassis of the car. Shift linkage, shifter, axles, wiring, hoses, etc. Nothing is cut, everything is carefully removed. They really cater to the engine swap crowd.

Sure, the price wasn't cheap, but they actually had a video of it in the car running and shifting through the gears to prove it was a 44k mile motor and runs fine. And since I needed it YESTERDAY, I couldn't complain. Of course, I'll be able to recoup some of the cost by selling some of the stuff I didn't and won't need (ECU, harness, A/C compressor, etc).

Now to get this thing back in and back to the track in time to qualify. :)

If I was given the option to buy something from APC or Larry Windmer I would pick APC, becuase I know it would suck without the long winded excuses that go with Endyn when I never recive it the part.

I have always heard good thing about Import Auto Salvage, I think it is one of thoose places where it is work paying a few extra bucks to do business with them.

Yeah, that seems to be what I found after ordering the header. Seems he was kicked off Honda-tech as well for shady business practices?

You might be interested in the target car though.
1993 Honda Del Sol w/ 9psi JRSC B18C(5) motor.

The car is together and running, but we are waiting on the header to get it tuned.

Somehow we were able to order a whole supercharger kit with hondata unit along with a bunch of other stuff and the only thing that hasn't shown up is the damn header. /rant

487hp, 11.2:1, 29mpg, @27psi boost on gas you buy at the Shell station?!?!

I simply refuse to believe this.

I have often heard Endyn's numbers are horrifically exaggerated. This piece does nothing to convince me otherwise.
