Currently working on a top secret project, can't divulge too much- but let me know if you have any experience with these cars. It's basically a Geo Metro with 100hp 1.3l DOHC 16v 4 cyl. Supposedly goes like stink and was a decent autox car in it's day.

Not sure what direction this project is going, might even be a POS class rallyx car........ :)

Got some decent info with a quick Google search, just looking for more info.

A lady named Becky Francis autocrossed one of those with THSCC when the car was new. Sure leaned a lot, which was kind of scary since it's a narrow car. I recall the transaxle gave up pretty early on.

Martin Bartlett (of CCR) has autocrossed one for years. It's really easy to spin (ask how I know lol) but is surprisingly fast and nimble - it's not the match of a top prep FSP car but is a quite good track car. Martin and Steven set a few track records in their class for solo 1 in it so there is no lack of potential.

Bob Kendrick has a '89 or '90 Swift GTI. He has been through the fun of rebuilding the motor too after 3 bad junkyard motors. He is also going through a transaxle right now too. Give him a call at 870-1907. He will be glad to help you avoid some of the pitfalls.

It is still right quick and a 200+ HP turbo kit is available too.

Thanks guys.

First order of business is a new Radiator- once I get that squared away, we'll see what I've got to work with.

Probably will see duty as a POS class rallyx car, and maybe a high MPG beater/daily driver.

Talk to Bob. He bought his with a dead motor and two of the three junkyard motors expired with a clogged oil pickup in the pan. You might want to pull the pan and check it out.

Bob gets in the low 30s for fuel economy and does not drive it for economy. zoom zoom

I think Grassroots did an article on the past year or two about some one who tweaked on of those, you might hit their website
