For those of you with M3's (and probably other BMW's), there is a cheap fix for the powersteering hose issues. On mine, one of the return lines had separated. The non-bmw parts would have cost about $150 and I've heard of people going to the dealer and paying $500 to have this done.

Search www.BimmerForums.com for pics. There is a guy selling hoses, but I went to a hydraulic shop and got four feet of each hose (1/2", 5/8") for about $15.

Thanks Mike for letting me know about it.

Phil

Yeap....mine PS hose let go during an HPDE at Rockingham just as I was breaking 100 MPH on the front tri-oval just after the NASCAR start/finish line. PS fluid smells bad enough by itself, but when it covers a hot motor and exhaust, it's beyond rank. I'm just glad it was a simple fix (so I could get back and finish the HPDE!!!).
