I think Rodney told me he had one at the dyno day. Sounds pretty good on the dyno, but I can't comment how it sounds inside, or while cruising.

well i decided to snatch it up. it was a new blemished M3 unit for $225 (50% off). can't beat that. i hear they are sort of super sprint clones so it wont be real loud i think. well see. if it sucks ill just cut the muffler off and use it to scare people at autoxes and hpdes. haha

Dave Davis (of Dave's Auto) speaks very highly of IE exhaust. I've been considering buying one. Just don't have the $$$ right now.

Yes, I'm running an IE exhaust as well as Mitch Moore. I like the sound. You get some interior resinence at about 1500rpm, but above that it's quite. Normal driving produces a nice tone, but mat it, and it wakes up. Actually at higher rpm's, the CAI is louder than the exhaust. It's an interesting mix when you're matted at 6k 8)

well i ordered one.

it came in on wednesday so i rushed home from work early to install it

get the stock exhaust off in record time, put the new exhaust next to the old one to get the hangers aligned like stock.. and i notice the new pipes are smaller than my stock pipes. wtf? these are supposed to be 60mm pipes and i measure these to be like 50mm.

so i call up and say wtf, ireland engineering?. and they say, doh!. wrong exhaust. gawwwwd.

so i had to put the stock back on and im awaiting shipment #2

:x

Don't mean to go out on a limb here, but "Ireland" exhaust? They're probably a bunch of drunkards with bagpipes. Don't ask me how I'd know; I'm just another "Mick".

I hope you get it in time for the next auto-x.

I don't know what it is, but getting a new exhaust is one of the most useless mods unless you're a turbo junkie, but somehow it's always one of the funnest (grammar???) mods at the same time for audio purposes. Grrrr........

A different opinion -- in a loud car, I *never* get surprised by the revlimiter on course. I know from the sound that it's gonna be kicking in soon. In the M3, with the stock exhaust, it creeps up and wham, hits sometimes when I'm not expecting it. Stock exhaust is too quiet.

Hearing the RPMs of the motor is another piece of data. It's nice to have and in my car with the stock exhaust is missing.

I have an exhaust on order. But it's not an Ireland :)

Active Autowerke. We'll see how it is. It's supposed to be really pretty. Then again next year if I move to BSP land I'll probably ditch the entire factory system and go with a single tuve custom 3" exhaust :)
