I just found out that a friend of mine has run into an issue with his 98 Chevy Venture. It appears that the head gasket has blown (or I guess it could be even worse - head could be cracked). Anyway, he would prefer not to take it to the dealership for repair simply because of how much they charge.

Can anyone recommend a good place/mechanic that could do the work? I will pass this information along to my friend. Thanks!

Guy's name is Tim Council. Sort of a Shade-tree operation (literally... there's a big Oak Tree right in front of the garage), but the guy seems to know his stuff. Just a few hundred yards north of the intersection of Davis Drive and High House Rd. You'd never know it was there, unless you saw the small sign out on the road.

I had him do some stuff to my Taurus when I owned it, and he was very reasonable. Nice guy, too. You might give him a ring.
