vent?

i remember seeing early last year an E36 w/ two guages in pods on a bracket that clipped into the leftmost driver's vent. I think it had a quick connector so you could easily clip them on and take them off, etc.

i'm trying to find a smart/elegant guage solution and there really arent many good options that i can find. The most common is 3 guages down in the sunglasses holder, but i think thats too low to be of use.. i want to keep a close eye on oil pressure (incase the oil pump nut comes off), oil temp, and water temp.

Id ideally put them where the stock radio is, but then id have no where to put the radio.. kinda want that. I could put the radio where the OBC is, but i like that thing too.

but yeh anyway. being able to clip a few on for an event, and then taking them off later sounds like a good plan. and also the cheapest solution. so if youre out there, let me know what you did :)

Not to point any fingers but I'm pretty sure that's Rodney Wright who has the gauges up on the left vent. I prefer having my garage door opener there. To quote Darrel Waltrip "I don't know why they put all them gauges in the car. I'm going to run it till it blowes up regardless"

yup....that's me. The gauge pods are old school items I bought back in the 80's and I can't belived I managed to hang onto them for so long. Being cheap, I didn't want to buy new pods, so I made the bracket that clips into the vent and attached the gauge pods.

I looked at the mount package that fits into the sun glasses pocket near the shifter, but I found it to low to quickly glance at the gauges. I didn't like the A pilar pod because it intruded into the window too much and killed some of the line of sight, so although my dash pod install is not a clean installation, it works for me.
