I need to get an alignment on the bimmer since I've whacked the current settings with new bushings, strut hats and springs. I've tried to call Kevin at MM Autowerks, but no answer for the last 2 days. He may be on vacation or the phone is out of whack. I'm trying to get a shop date for next Friday (2/24) and I'm out of town the first of next week.

Is there any other place you can recommend I can take the car to for an autox alignment if I can't get Kevin?

Let me know as soon as you can please.

Thanks

i haven't personally been to him, but Mark from HH recommends a guy named Jeremy from Crossroads Exxon. I trust Mark's opinion.

I have used Just Tires off of Leesville Road for the last 5 years. They have done a good job. It is not rocket science.

They got a good reputation and now their prices reflect that. I used to pay $50 for a custom alignment. The Camaro cost me $90 and I had to convince them that the car was not lowered and was stock.

But since alignment is once every two years...no big deal :)

Brad at Digital Chassis knows his stuff. He's not cheap though. Closer to what Jim pays for his Camaro alignments.

I'm not sure what I'm driving.
Maybe an ITR in DS.
Or half-assed STX prepped 330.

I will vouch for Brad @ Digital Chassis as well. He knows his Porsche's and Bimmers quite well. Very hands on as well. If you wanna point things out, get an understanding of anything or talk shop with him -- he is your man. You just need to call ASAP to get an appointment. Northern Durham near the 15-501/147/85 merger close to Riverside Highschool and Crosdale Golf Course.

if convenient, id swing by MM. Kevin is really busy and isnt so good about answering the phone. He's there though, just all by himself. If you swing by he'll take the time to chitchat.

He's the man. ive gone through 4 alignments, bought some wheels, and 3 sets of tires w/ mounting/balancing and have also been really pleased.

He mounts and balances each wheel/tire, runs road force, and then dismounts and remounts the tire on the wheel nominally.

He's also just as picky about alignment specs as i am, so that makes me happy.

I've had only one "negative" w/ him once when we had a misunderstanding about my R32's front camber. I guess i wasnt clear, but he got me back in the shop asap (2 days later) to redo it all at no cost.

He's also a BMW enthusiast himself and knows BMWs really well. And i can say from experience, that he takes care of his repeat customers.

I'm another fan of Brad's. Got my last alignment from him at Digital Chassis and was very pleased. It's a one man operation and he takes his time, but he's very pleasant to talk to and a perfectionist. He did mounting, balancing, alignment with the same care for my car that i would have taken myself. I give him a hearty recommendation.

Oh, and just for convenience, his ph# is 919-384-7070. Give him a call ASAP because he, too, is bad at answering the phone and is always booked at least a week ahead of time. If you're lucky you might be able to get him sooner, though...

*cough* ;)

If you're interested in a non-club sponsor, as originally intended, you could go to www.automasterscary.com you can get a "close enough" alignment for $39.95 using their coupon.

It's on Maynard, and you can say "Hi" to Jason and Tonya while you're there.

Their "close enough" alignment cost me a set of tires. I had been going to them for 2-3 years for alignments and had two bad experiences in a row with two different cars. I don't know if it was due to someone new doing the alignments or what, but I won't be going back. When I was told that he couldn't adjust the toe on a Honda....that was the big clue.

I went to Sturdivants in Chapel Hill and Howard was very accommodating. I will go back there again and would recommend him to anyone. $70.
