I was putting on coilovers today and as I finished and pulled into the parking lot I heard a terrible noise. Apparently the front driver's side drive shaft had somehow become disconnected during the coilover installation. When I started to drive off the grease boot got shreaded and the front drive shaft had pulled out of the hub. You can imagine how I feel now. How tuff is the fix? How is that thing held in? I'm not near a Subaru dealer, is this someting that a normal shop can deal with? I obviously have no idea what I'm doing.

After some further (calmer) thought, I'm thinking that it would be easier to buy an entire halfshaft assembly and replace the whole thing. Anyone know where I can get some good instructions on the net.

Unless you damaged the shaft and U joint there is no need to replace the whole shaft. You can just replace the rubber boot and repack the grease. Not sure how you were able to get the shaft out of the hub. Check out scoobymods.com for instructions on how to get it back in there. Kevin Allen may also have more info on how to get it back in.
