Great information!! Thanks to all of you (even Kevin  ) Now to put it all together and hope that Santa is good to me. :D If not, I'll buy it all myself.

Oh, Ryan, I want to get another set because I don't want to spend the cash on a set of "good" street tires and drive them off the wheels in 6 months instead of getting another set and using them for the track. That goes for you to Kevin. :P Maybe after I do this for a while I'll get a bug up my arse and go with some R compounds. But for now, this will do nicely.

Oh, PJ, STX

He knows that I will be renting his trailer for Nationals next year, so lay off! :)

Your going to drive all that way to get owned by Rankins? You needed to see them out in Dixie on Sunday. Rankins took FTD and the top three Pax spots were Steven Rankins, Jon K, Jon McCallister. All in McCallister's car.

When they were running the Continentals you beat them. The Potenzas are much faster than those crappy Continentals. If only Steven were running this weekend. Its all good I am going to be slaughtered this weekend in STU anyways.

... and I was running full tread depth RE070s (my street tires). Your point is?

There are always a lot of 'what ifs' in racing, but results will always speak for themselves.

I wasn't talking about local. I was talking Nationals too.

But I guess you have to be "good" to run at Nationals right?

Nope...just a lot of time and a lot of money if you want to be competitive. It is like any other form of motorsports

That is the exact reason I won't be making it to Nationals for a few more years. I don't have enough time or money. Being a student kills the budget.

OBVIOUSLY you don't have to be "good" if I am trying.

You just need to 'hack it up!".

Yeah, even with what was damn near the drive of my life, I couldn't touch him. Rankins + STI = FAST. He and the new Mr. Breakey are going to directly cause me to spend even more money on my car.

Bah... anyone is beatable... except for Whitney, that is.

I have beaten Rankins.. Rankins has beaten me.. no biggie. I am not, nor do I think anyone is, going to any event with the intention of beating one person. I think we are all going with the intention to go as fast, qui ckly, and smoothly as possible (or 2 of 3 ;) ). If you get beat by someone, or not perform up to your expectations, you review, analyze, and change what you are doing. It's always about learning and progressing.

WIth that said, and to reiterate, I beat him and McCallister on Saturday in FL :: www.subaruchallenge.com

In fact, Rankins got beat by his co-driver in the Challenge by .4 seconds in each of his two runs, and they both ran clean ( those results are not posted yet for some reason). This WAS on the 'good tires' and McCallister even ran SECOND on hot street tires... so if anything, Rankins had the advantage. Everyone has good and bad days.

So, my point -- anyone is beatable. You can't be perfect everyday, and as long as you are living up to your own expectations and goals, there are no worries.... well, at least for me there are not.

Hey not to get you Scoobie boys on the trailer topic
But since you all want to go to events or Nationals.

Cosby. Take a loot at Tractor Supply. They have a 4x6 trailer. It is already built and welded instead of bolted. Has side rails. 12" tires. Title and all papwerwork with it. Just hook it up to your trailer hitch and drive off.

You'd be able to load up your tires, Brian's, Keith's, and even Kevin's if you were in a good mood. You can all go to Nationals together. Attack of the Scooby Squad...

I'm seriously considering that one as it fits 4 Vette wheels, toolbox, canopy, etc. and will double as something useful when I need to haul a riding mower or stuff for my wife's business.

Graham

Cosby -- I will steal the trailer in the night.

Good luck!

Now THAT would be a site. A vette towing a riding mower. You'd get some more interesting looks than we do with dirty cars!

Thanks for that tidbit too. I'll check them out and if there is still something after Christmas (still banking on getting this as a present  ) then I'll probably pick it up then. :D

Brian, stealth is your friend, speed is not. Or is it the other way around? :P
