If you have a 6pt that is catching you in a sensitive area, you have something definitely wrong or are very popular with the women. Is your seat adjustable? First thing is to get it in the right position. I'd have to look at your belt installation, but I don't have any problem with the 6 pt in my miata with stock seat. First you need to get the lap belt tight and low on the hips with your butt pushed back tightly into the corner of the seat. Next attach the crotch strap and pull it up just snug, it should not pull the lap belt down, but should be tight enough that you can't pull the lap belt up any either the straps should be pressing on the upper part of your thighs. Hint: pull your pants legs up a bit to give yourself more "room" before tightening the strap. Lengthen the shoulder straps and attach them to the buckle, then adjust them up as tight as you'd like. The function of the crotch strap is to resist the pull of the shoulder straps to keep the lap belt from riding up into the stomach area.
