Here's the situation. Imagine if you will you are driving down the road and your wheel is off-centered to the left. That's perfectly fine (sort of) as you are still able to drive the car in a straight line. Now, you come to a right hand turn and when you straighten the car back, the wheel is now off-centered to the right!! This happens back and forth with turns. Not anything drastic and nothing "slips" when turning that is noticable. So, my question is, does this sound like something any of you have experienced before and what was the solution? Just curious as I am slowly building the new beater up to just break it down again later. Thanks.

Off the top of my head I would guess that the steering rack is moving in it's mounts. Or something will totally fail leaving you with no steering at all.

steering rack bushings are sloppy/loose and you're getting memory steer - just like the STi's will do without upgraded bushings. My mom's Forester was doing the same thing until I put some poly bushings in there. I have bushings on the way for the FXT - same problem.

Replace the steering rack bushings; if it still does it, uh... :?

Re: steering rack bushings--

I looked into doing the bushing upgrade last year and found that this mod alone would push me out of AS into SM! So, if you AutoX beware of the consequences.

I did hear a rumor that it may be allowed in ST* next year...

This is for Cosby's new (to him) RX car.

Yep, at rallycrosses the only rules involve tires, engine size & number of wheels driven, & it has to pass tech.

Stock STi vs. Petter Solberg's WRC car.

Come on, Chris - you know you wanna come play with us... :D

Well, while I won't totally rule it out, I still prefer the KX250 for playing in the dirt. It's much quicker.

Yup, it's for the future new play in the dirt car. Gonna finish out the season with the Subaru then move to a new class of beatings next year.

Matt mentioned the fact that it made nice little clunking noises on hard turns on asphalt. I've yet to hear that but was pleasantly surprised to see my off-centered steering wheel go from left to right after a turn. It was kinda funny, specially since I didn't feel anything that made that slip.

Soon, the spray paint comes out and I paint it bright pink!! Or I could stick with the yellow theme.

Oh yeah. Thanks for the feedback as to the problem. I figured that might fix it, but wanted to make sure. I was going to be replacing those anyway and didn't want to be surprised (too much) if they didn't fix the problem. :o

I will not be out blinged! Expect a whole new paint job on the General next season.

It can and will be done with enough chrome paint and some bondo shaped diamonds.
