A) It's not going to rain (on track) this weekend. Don't even think it!

B) Rain-X is invisible, how can it make a mess?

C) I use it and it works great, no worries mate!

Rain-X is good, IMO. Some people hate it because it can make your wipers chatter. The key to avoiding that, I have found, is to use the 'alternate' method of application where they say to use water when you do the wipe down.

But, Vincent is right, it will not rain. I have full depth tires which guarantees a dry day with rubber chunking track temperatures!

Rain-X works well on track .... the only downside to Rain X I've found is once you apply it you must keep using it or remove it . Seems the slippery part eventually wears off leaving a carrier that will impair your visibility in the rain especially at night.
If you do apply Rain-X make sure you don't try to use liquid shoe polish to mark something on the glass. I've filed this one under "ask me how I know" ...

Good point. The best ways I have found of to eliminate the carrier build up is with Bon-Ami or a dedicated windshield polish like the one made by Duragloss.

FWIW;

I use the Duragloss stuff and am quite happy with it. Use the stripping and surface prep, then the bonding agent, then the polish. I have both the fiberglass and metal polish. Lasts way longer than wax on the car. I also use the Duragloss car wash soap.

I've also used their windsheild treatment. I don't think it works quite as good as Rain-X but close. Rain-X seems to work better at lower speeds than the Duragloss. I also agree with spraying water on the windshield to wipe off the excess Rain-X. It gets rid of the streaking problems.

I always use a REALLY clean towel (no fabric softener sheets in the dryer, powder detergent for no nastiness from the wash) and have never had problems with streaking. If you use a even slightly dirty rag to wipe off the rain-x you'll get some streaking.

Highly recommended.

I use Rain-X and love it. It is cool the looks you get from others in a convertible with the top down in the pouring rain with no wipers going :lol:

Its great on windshields and, being single, I find it works great on dishes too! Just a quick rinse and its clean!
