It never hurts to ask...trying to find a 1993 MR2 transmission is not an easy task. The question is does a 91 or 92 transmission from a NA MR2 have different part number(s) than a 1993?

What a pain in the butt to play by the rules....

Hey Jim, call a dealer. They can look up both part numbers and see. I use and abuse the dealers for all the parts I've needed for the engine, etc. - AB

Jim,

If for some reason you can't get the info from a dealer or TRD, try Matt Murray on team.net and/or the Evolution Schools list. I believe he used to be a Toyota parts "guy" of some sort and still has info.

Or . . . if all else fails you can change classes and use a transmission from these guys http://www.hewland.com/ given that you trailer the car anyway. :D

I settled on a 12/92 build transmission from Southern Imports (a junkyard in Grover, NC) :)

For the NA second gen MR2, there are 5 unique part numbers for the transmission casing! The 1991 had 3 different ones, one for the 92 and one for cars built after 08/92.

What a pain, kind of makes you hate stock class! But when and if it gets done, the car will remain legal :) Now waiting on Toyota Motorsports and my new clutch.
