So I wonder if these will grip better than my Victoracers? If so, I'm gonna get some 225-50-15s and run in TIR next year!

I will be there right with you in the MR2 :) The tires will be available in January or February. Found that out yesterday as I ordered some Azenis for the Miata

You didn't hear? I'm going to be an AXVP and my administration is ditching TIRE class because none of us run it and don't care.

ES = Spec Falken class next year? Or are you still doing the Hoosier thing?

In case you are wondering, the Honda-Tech thread URL is...

http://www.honda-tech.com/zerothread?id=1044531

More info, including SEMA photos that show that the previous photo that was floating around is correct. Also speculation that the list of sizes may not be complete. Some speculation that they will offer last years sizes + new. So there may be more than just the one 16" size.

Money can't buy happiness, but somehow it's more comfortable to cry in a Porsche than a Kia.

Just might be. I am a little tired of running on nylon and steel

I hate working the course at autox and I must tell you about it, often.

The engineer at Falken that told me about the size we care about said "spring" to "summer" of 05. Thinking about throwing those old trash tires out and running the new Azenis are we

Graham, I got the same story a few months back before any formal announcements were made about the new tire from Falken. He didn't tell me they were coming out with a new tire, just that they would be greatly expanding the sizes, including the ones you and I like in 17s.

By the time they are available it sounds like the next season will be half over or better. Even though the tires I run are older than your grandmother and harder than rocks, the price was right. If I run new race rubber, I won't have an excuse any more when the rookies beat me, so I'm not sure what I'll do yet. Besides, I might actually have to spend money on tires. We'll have to see if I even have a tire budget next year.

One thing that does appeal to me about the new Falkens is that it is a tire I could run and not bother to change tires at events. As I get less serious about autox and just want to show up for an event now and then and have fun, the idea of having decent rubber without having to change tires is appealing. So, I lose a little at Laurinburg, but I have a feeling that new Falkens will be faster than aged vintage Hoosiers.

It sounds like the best part of that is I get to compete against Whitney and Jim P in tire class next year! Woohoo! With this trend, we could do away with open classes and put everbody in tire class. We could just have one big pax club. (ducking and running for cover....)

Besides, I'm getting old and lazy and less interested in working so hard at this autox stuff these days. Small but important voices beckon me to spend my time on other things next year. I hope I listen.

Miles

Just hope it doesn't rain Miles. I tow the Miata's street tires just in case we have to drive home in the rain. So unless you still bring your trailer with your other tires, you may have to either a) drive home at 35MPH OR b) leave the Vette at the site and ride home with Kevin Allen. Kevin is still the only one I know that says Azenis are safe in the rain.

Well, just think about it - if lots of people choose them for their "rain tires" when autoxing... why wouldn't they be safe in the rain?

Plus I have AWD & mad skills, yo!

I drove the "race RS" home from work in semi-heavy rain yesterday on the less-than-half-tread RE070's (stock STi tires) I bought from Dan. That was pretty exciting!
