I'm thinking of picking up another set of Bridgestone Potenza RE950's for my Saab 900. I have gotten about 40k miles out of the last set with two autocrosses and the novice school + pretty aggressive driving on the street. I have been very satisfied with them so far. Tire rack has them for $79 each in 195/60-15.

I have two questions:

Does anyone have a similar tire that they would recommend over the RE950's? I probably won't have the car for more than 20k miles longer, so I don't need as much tread life, but I'd hate to have to put new tires on 15-20k miles from now to be able to sell it.

Does anyone know a local place to get these (or a similar) tire at comparable prices? I planned to check with Hubcap Heaven to see what they have since all of the other tire threads have had positive responses about them, but I would like to know what I should be asking for before I call them. Do they sell Bridgestone tires?

A higher performance (but NOT for snow) version of the same is the RE-750. I've used them on the WRX and really like the tire. It's 95% of the S-03 performance without the harshness.

Cheaper tires are available too -- the Falken FK 451 seems to be getting a lot of good reviews lately. I've used Falken street tires in the past (on th Jetta) and liked them a lot -- quiet and smooth rolling with good performance.

I'll look into the RE750 and Falken FK451 that you recommended.

This car won't see any snow this year because I just bought a Wrangler.

I'd also suggest changeing the tire size. Try a 205/50, more choise in a poerformance tire, lower sidewall for less flex, and more rubber on the road.

^ I think you might be right about changing sizes. It really opens up a lot more options and I'm sure a 205 would be fine even on the stock 6.5" rims.

Would there be a noticeable difference in ride quality (thinking about selling the car here) if I went with a 205/50 instead of a 205/55? The 205/55 would keep the speedo a little more accurate.
