Hey guys,

I am going to pick up an '01 Integra Type R tomorrow. It comes with an extra set of Type R wheels with Hoosier race tires (I'm not sure the size and model yet) mounted on them. The guy said they are relatively new and only have two track events on them. I have 3 questions:

1. How much could these tires be worth?

2. What is the best way to store them?

3. Will they deteriorate over time?

Thanks for the help :D ,

Charlie

Congrats! An excellent car. I wish I had bought one when I had my GS-R...

I'd say anywhere from $100 to $400 depending on how old and worn. Probably somewhere in the middle - $200-250 or so. Check out the classifieds on sccaforums.com to get a better idea of used Hoosier prices.

In dark garbage bags, in a cool, dry place, away from light and electric motors.

They sure will. How fast? I dunno. But Hoosiers wear out faster than any other tires I have used - from both time and heat.

With "a couple of track events on them" the tires are not worth much. Did the seller give you any more information? Is "a couple" two or five? Makes a big difference with Hoosiers.

I've bought used road race compound Hoosiers from Appalachian for 40 bucks a tire. Some have been basically new, some have been awful. Just to give you perspective on what they're worth.

Otherwise, Mike captured everything else. They're fragile. And BTW...nice car.[/quote]

Thanks for the info. I will update you on the tire data (i.e. wear, model, size, etc.) when I return with the car on Saturday.

I'd just keep them if it were me. Then again, it would be tempting to try them out. What tires are on the stock wheels?

BTW, is the car moded at all?

Good luck Charlie

Congrats on a great car purchase.

As is stated before anymore from about $100 to $400

My wife always likes it when I use them as a coffee table in the living room. Climate controlled is always best.

Yes. Even just sitting around they will dry up.

Are you planning on tracking it, autocrossing it, or just riding around? If you make it out too the autocross in Sanford this weekend I'll be there in my 2000 R. I'll give you a ride if you like.

I just got back with my new R!

Details (for those interested):
-2001 Phoenix Yellow
-19xxx miles
-2 previous owners (both Honda R&D engineers)
-17 in. CTR wheels w/ RE040 tires (OEM CTR wheels/tires from Japan)
-15 in. stock wheels included w/ "track compound" Hoosiers

Unfortunately, they are "track compound" and I will not be able to take the car to the track until next spring at the earliest. I would like to sell them while they are still worth some money and use that money to buy some Azenis.

For now, it will be stored in my parents' garage in Charlotte until I graduate from NCSU in December. I plan on going home every couple of weekends to take it on joy rides. Therefore I will not be racing it in any Tarheel events this season. I am thinking of taking it to NCAC in November though. Ultimately I want to autocross it and do some track events with it.

Unfortunately, I will be unable to attend the Sanford event due to the NCSU/OSU football game. However, I should be at every other event this season and would like to take you up on the ride offer.

I would like to post a picture or two. Is that possible on this message board?
