I'm "considering" using a set of spacers for autocross only. How many threads of the lugnut need to be on the bolt, before I need to consider getting longer lugs?

For the DSP car? 1/2 of a turn should be fine.

From http://www.tirerack.com/wheels/tech/torque.htm

Size of Bolt or Stud - Mininum Number of Turns

14x1.5mm - 7.5
12x1.5mm - 6.5
12x1.25mm - 8
1/2" - 8
9/16" - 8

Ha, b/c you need so much help in DSP. Especially now that the corrado's gone :)

I've always heard 5 turns before torquing. That worked great when we ran in DS in the WRX. I actually had about 4.5 turns before torquing.

For road racing I would feel comfortable with more, for autox, that was plenty.

Well, I ordered more wheels/tires today, and the TireRack representative said that the list that is posted is the 'ideal', but 4.5 to 5 turns for any lug stud is more than sufficient. Their worry point is anything south of 4 turns. Here I was worried that my 5 turns with 1/4" spacers was getting dangerous :) - AB

I put my wheels on crooked to increase negative camber. i get plenty of turns on the top lugs, but the bottom lugs are only on there about 2 turns. It seems to be working for me :)

I was using that method to adjust toe. I didn't know I could do it for camber too! Wooo!

Since my Formula Ford uses center lock wheels (only one lug nut), I have to use either a tapered spacer or a lugnut which has a tapered surface. Taper in two directions for camber and toe.
