ok you mustang track drivers. I need some advice on what brake fluid to use for the upcoming CMP event in June. What's the best bang for the buck? What do you use to do a brake bleed by yourself? I always get the rolling eyes when I ask Pam to help me out. Appreciate any advice....

I use ATE brake fluid in mine and a Motive power bleeder, which makes solo bleeding really easy.

I used ATE Typ 200 in the Camaro and also have used the RBF 600 stuff, both seemed to work the same for me, never boiled either, never ran at CMP either though, VIR only.

I use a Motive Power Bleeder and Motul RBF600. I have mixed feelings about the power bleeder. The recommended PSI of 15PSI is not enough to push out the fluid in my WRX. I need to get close to 25 PSI. They suggest if the PSI is too high you could damage your master cylinder. Also, I stopped putting brake fluid in the bleeder reservoir as it wastes too much in the tubing etc. I just remove as much fluid from the master cylinder reservoir and then fill to the top with fresh and bleed out old fluid keeping in mind to never let it get too low. I have to fill the reservoir 1-2 times and once at the end. This also keeps the power bleeder cleaner.

BTW I have a sealed bottle of Motul RBF600 and an open one with a little bit left if you get in a pinch.

In the 3 HPDE's I've done at NCCAR, I did not boil the fluid. That includes 2 HPDE's with 115mph to 30mph hard braking zone. My friend with a Focus ST boiled his stock fluid in the second session.

Chris, you and your Mustang are invited to the Heart of Carolina Mustang club meeting tomorrow night, 7 PM @ Crossroads Ford in Cary :) :) :)

Rodney, I had one very bad experience with a Motive Products power bleeder with my '90 Mustang... when the Ford-specific cap came loose and sprayed brake fluid everywhere. Everywhere. After that, I just used the power bleeder w/o fluid and checked/refilled the reservoir frequently. For my 2007, I bought speed bleeders from Summit Racing (Russell # 639560). You may need a different part for your upgraded front calipers.

With the Motive, just skip putting brake fluid in it as it wastes a ton of fluid. Just fill the reservoir, put on the Motive cap, pressurize, bleed, and keep and eye on the fluid level. Add fluid as necessary, rinse and repeat.

I think that is the wrong one according to their guide:
"Model year 2005 to 2014 Mustangs, Fusions 2006, Fiesta's from 2014+ use bleeder kit 0118 which comes with adapter number 1118."
https://www.motiveproducts.com/collections/adapters

I'm glad to see others are not filling the bleeder reservoir. What PSI are you guys using?

^^^^Arthur: I'm sure someone would notice when I don't do a burnout leaving the meet. :)

Chris is correct on the part number for the cap. It is the same one I use on the Vette and my Shelby. I use ATE TYP 200, I miss the blue... on amazon it is not to bad.

FWIW, mine is a Chevrolet cap with a thicker gasket. The same threads fit my Z-24 and Mustang.

I ordered the 1107 cap since it was the cheaper option on amazon. If VK says it fits, then it fits. Should be here next week, so I'll report back next weekend...
