Mini Cooper people- where do you buy your stock type maintenance parts? I have a huge list of things I need to replace on my r53 ranging from brakes to window motors.

Jordan has a few parts for sale from his 06 SC mini that we no longer need. Have a water pump, front control arm bushings and something else, need to check. Also have the belt tensioner tool. Interested in any of it?

I might have been - Yesterday I put a new battery in the car since the last one died when we let the car sit for 2 months. Car wouldn't turn over with the new battery. Then it wouldn't turn over when trying to push it down a hill in gear. Pulled the plugs to check for a cylinder full of fuel, nothing in the cylinders. We got it rolling pretty good today and tried to push start it but the engine won't turn over.

The thing ran when I parked it and it sat for about two months during the summer. Trying to wrap my head around how the engine could have seized up in that time.

I am going to mess around with the car a little more and then give up and sell it as a project for someone else.

The only thing I could think of would be rust in the bores, could you see into the cylinders at all? Maybe somebody has a bore scope you could use. If they rusted up then some marvel mystery oil squirted in there or some ATF might help unstick them. Of course if they rusted up that bad some compression would likely be lost. It seems unlikely a engine that was running would rust up just sitting for a couple months though.

That's a pretty crappy surprise to find though for sure after it sitting for a bit. I've gotten cars that sat for years to run again that sat in barns without even really having to try too hard.

I put a boroscope into the cylinders and they looked good to me, no pooled fluids, no rust, no signs of debris or scoring on the walls. There was oil on the #2 plug but it turned out to only be in the plug well and not in the cylinder so I'm not thinking any HG issue.

I need to get the car off of the street into my garage so I can get it up on stand and have a better look at things. Not knowing these cars well at all, it looks like a major pain in the ass to get a wrench onto the crank bolt. Anyone know if its possible through the wheel well after removing the fender liner?

I noodled around the front of the engine with the boroscope as best as I could - The accessory belt at least looks good.

you can get a view of it from the wheel well not sure if you can get a wrench in there though its real tight, be careful with those plastic screw plugs they are like 1 $ each and I've not found an affordable replacement other than LKQ when they rarely get minis.

From what I understand if you wait just a short bit, you will before long ;)

I have a few bagsters in my driveway being picked up today. Once those are gone I can get the mini into the garage and onto jackstands. Assuming the engine doesn't turn over and its not something obvious, I'm going to do an oil sample and then look around inside the pan.

I am curious about this. To make sure we are on the same page, what did you actually do and what actually happened? I assume this is a manual transmission, that you had the clutch pushed in (disengaged), had the car rolling and then quickly released the clutch. How fast were you rolling? What gear were you in? I assume when you released the clutch that the front wheels immediately locked up?

Yeah, car in first gear, rolling downhill ~10mph, dropped clutch and wheels locked up. Also with three guys trying to push it down hill in gear, slides on tires a little but doesn't turn over.

I should be able to find something out this weekend:
