I always go into like 3rd gear if I'm trying to bump start, 1st gear is too low just results in skidding tires

Ditto, first gear usually will just result in locked up tires. You need to try 3rd gear for a roll start, you need more mechanical advantage over the motor.

I would see if you can confirm where the starter is even doing anything, it should make some kind of noise if it's attempting to enagage.

Yeah, so that is good news. As other mentioned try higher gear.

Oddball idea on potential cause if the above doesn't work. Starter is engaged with flywheel, but starter itself is locked up vs. the engine being locked up. That is an odd scenario, but it would prevent the flywheel from moving/engine turning.

I am in the camp that would be shocked for you to find that the engine is truly locked up due to some internal issue. I vote for it eventually being something simple.

Money can't buy happiness, but somehow it's more comfortable to cry in a Porsche than a Kia.

Yeah, and hopefully you read this before pulling the oil pan since I suspect you won't find any issues there since you said it was running before being parked for 2 months.

When I did the push starts I tried second gear as well (same result). Didn't try third. Im not planning on pulling the pan, just draining the oil and looking around inside with a boroscope.

Also, turning the key gives a single click and grind noise, no additional noises per turn.

How bad of grinding? Maybe the starter isn't engaging the flywheel properly?

so the engine is stuck when I spin it forwards but the problem lives on the accessory belt. When I spin the engine backwards, the belt loses tension and slips, and the engine spins happily:

It looks like you need a tool to release the belt tension? I could just cut it since it probably needs to be replaced anyway. Also, google shows a lot of results for seized superchargers.

I cut the belt and it is the AC compressor that seized. I am really happy it wasn't the supercharger. It looks like I can get a used one off of ebay or LQK for ~$100.

Also it would appear the alternator is seized as well. Here is a video of the compressor taking every bit of hand strength to turn a little bit at a time:

whats the history on this car? thats crazy

I have an alternator you can have but it needs cleaning, it kinda worked but the cv boot grease got into it, it would probably be fine after a good cleaning

This was my mom's car and for the last few years it was parked near the ocean in MA. It had electrical issues when I got it (from sunroof drain failure) which I fixed. I didn't get to the window motors or the AC before summer hit so I parked it for ~2 months. Battery died and I just tried to get it running again last week. I think there is a short related to the window motor contacts? They said a dealer told them the parasitic draw on the battery was related to the window motors and I'm thinking like pooled/dripping grease or something along those lines. That sounds kind of far fetched to me but I haven't actually opened the door and looked yet.

My fix list is now:

AC comp
Alternator

Basically everything related to the brakes
Fix ABS light on - hopefully just a wheel speed sensor or two

Then detail it, flip it, and buy a early 90s toyota pickup.

I got my code reader and the ABS/DSC lights are being caused by:

5E1F Vehicle Identification different
5E16 CAN connection to instrument cluster
5E5C Initialize run flat indicator
5E18 CAN data fault limit from DME/DD
5E40 Steering angle implausible.

It sounds to me like a failed steering angle sensor and that I need to recode the DSC controller. Is there a low budget way to vin code BMW computers?
