Hey Folks,

The A/C quit on my Miata. We've tested all the relays and switches. The system isn't leaking and has the correct pressure.

The compressor is getting the correct voltage, but the clutch is not engaging. My mechanic thinks that it is the clutch, but of course those are ghastly expensive.

Does anyone know where I can pick up an old compressor or clutch to try the easy fix first?

Thanks,

Chris

I'd call Jeremy at Wagner's auto salvage in Durham. James Milko or Chad Culbertson might have one laying around though also, as I believe they deleted the AC from their NB's.

I have a A/C compressor I pulled off my 2000, i'm guessing their probably the same.

Mine had an issue where the rubber in the pulley got separated and it wouldn't spin the outer part of the clutch. Got a clutch from Milko though and fixed that, so I know the compressor was working when it came off.

You're welcome to it or the clutch. I'm leaving tomorrow morning though for a week.

It's currently at Austins house, but he's coming to my place in the morning in Pittsboro and I could leave it sitting out or he could leave it outside of his house close to Garner.

I would look at Chad's compressor and try to match. The parts interchange system we use says that 01-03 are all the same, but it is NO way 100 percent correct. Let me know if his does not match up and I can see what I can find.

I think the clutch on mine came from a 2001, so if it's just the clutch I would just change that. It bolted to my 2000 compressor just fine.
