After this set of RS3s are done, and with some XP20s sitting on the shelf I was thinking of going with a slick. I've been kicking around the idea of a Trofeo R or RE-71R, but for the money I might as well go with full race rubber. Does anyone have a comparision between the RC1 and z214s? At the price point the Maxxis tire seems to be the clear winner, and with nothing but great reviews and the cost savings, it seems like the sure bet. I just wonder how long they're really going to last vs the Hankooks. Do you still get what you pay for? I would have to with a 235 vs 245 for the RC1 though, and the compound seems to be a bit harder on the RC1 vs the Hankook.

255/40/17 RS3 = $152
245/40/17 Z214 = $214
235/40/17 RC1 = $180

Miata folks love them. They will be about the same speed as a NT-01 with similar wear characteristics. I've been debating switching from SM7s to the RC-1s (+Aero) on my PTE Miata.

You'll likely need to keep a set of street tires kicking around anyway unless you plan on sitting out rain sessions.

Tires are in! 255/40/17 Maxxis RC1s.

Specs
Weight: 25.8lb
(rough) Dimensions: 9.5" tread width, 10.25" section width, 24" tall (seems rather short!). Very rounded shoulders. Can't wait to see if they improve my already poor lap times :p
