Hey guys, got round to replacing my rear brake calipers, 4 rotors and hawk HP+ pads today. To my surprise one of the rear rotors rubs on the caliper bracket.

To make sure I wasn't sent a bad caliper I tried the old bracket but that rubs too. I guess I got sent a bad rotor?

Ah well, at least I learnt that the motive brake bleeder is pretty awesome and I should be able to get a new rotor before Cary. I also don't have to have a funky non-powder coated bracket on one side, because that would ruin the bling factor.

I have two new front rotors (from Advance Auto, can remember the brand name) for my daughters 2005 civic. They slightly rub the caliper (one side, maybe othe sides). I was in a hurry and pulled them off and put old rotors back on. I am pretty sure that when they machined the rotors they left them a bit thick. I haven't gotten around to dealing with them. I should have taken them back. It's been long enough that I may just have them turned down a bit.

I am curious if others run into this on occasion.

Richard

Money can't buy happiness, but somehow it's more comfortable to cry in a Porsche than a Kia.

When you consider the price it's not terribly surprising if they missed the occasional machining operation.

Ah well, amazon prime to the rescue.

The Hawk HP+ pads are great autocross pads, terrible street pads though. I ran them on the Camaro and they get pretty obnoxiously loud on the street.

Just a little warning since you DD yours.

I think I can live with the compromise. The dream in high school was to daily drive a group N prepped rally car with squealing brakes and straight-cut gears. 8)

Got the new rotor in and found out that the problem was twofold. The old rotor was out of spec, and the powder coating on the new bracket also didn't help. New rotor and old bracket seems to have fixed it. I might try to sand down the powder coat on the new bracket after the Cary event.

The pads are freaking awesome in terms of stopping power. Can't wait to try them out.

You won't have enough speed in Cary to have to stop. Probably should have removed the brakes all together for that event

Well just in case a minivan decides the last gate makes a good parking spot, I'll be ready.
