I'll do my best to make this brief:

So I had my AP1 in the shop a few months ago getting wheels and tires put on, alignment done, and corner balance on the Ohlins. They were finished in a few hours and charged a fair price, stating that a corner balance wasn't needed as it was nearly perfect when they put it on the scales. One problem though, the tech (a kinda new guy) couldn't get more than -2.2 out of the left rear. I said okay, and they dialed in -2.2 all around.

Fast forward to after the meet last month. I am driving home and there is a weird sound coming from the front. I pull over and find a loose lug (hand loose) on the front left wheel, which had wiggled some other lugs loose and the whole wheel was wobbling on the hub.. I was informed that the centric rings on the TR wheels had been known to do this in the past, so I limped home and retorqued the lugs.

A few weeks later I went to an autox, were I thrashed the car well and was pleased. I got back home from Garysburg to find that the lug has come loose again. WTF?!

So two weeks later (a few days ago now) here I am going to put the SOS lines on, my old track rotors, and Carbotech pads. I have one of those dewalt cordless impacts (150ft/lb advertised but the damn thing really doesn't do more than 80 ft/lb) and it's struggling to get the lug nut off the front right wheel. All the rest came off fine but this one is giving me a problem. Once the wheel is off I find a stripped lug. Damn it.

So after sourcing and pricing parts for a worst case scenario I call Performance Chassis back and they schedule me in. Upon having to change the schedule due to being down a tech, I take the car in. They had sourced the parts the night before and invoiced me $270 bucks. I explained to Nick the situation, and he and I go take to Aaron (who is probably one of the most knowledgeable alignment guys I've ever met), who wasn't the one who had worked on the car that day, but was going to fix my problems. In the end Aaron asked "Have you rotated these wheels since we put them on?" I replied "No, once they were off I slid them under the car from the corner I took them off."

Apparently that was enough for Aaron to inform me that the centric rings were on backwards...the front was on the rear and the rear on the fronts. Nick and Aaron ordered 4 new centric rings because the fronts were mauled.

I inquired about the alignment, asking for another set of eyes on it and if they actually could get more than -2.2 out of the rear. In the end I could, and they maxed the fronts out at -2.4 with room to go in the rear. SPC ball joints anyone? ;)

Total price for having a new stud, new bearing pressed in, new alignment, all labor included? $66. They asked me to simply pay for the Honda OE bearing. I was happy to do so.

It's good when a shop, not knowing beyond the word of their customer, takes responsibility for a set of mistakes, and owns the whole thing. I was wondering if I would continue to do business with them after this both time consuming and financial inconvenience. Safe to say, they did me right. Damn right I'll be taking it back to them.

I've dealt w/ Performance for as long as I can remember and they have always treated me well. You can't go wrong spending your money there as far as I'm concerned.

I've used them before and they do great work. I just find it annoying you can't get them to answer the phone or return a call. I gave up on them years ago because of this.

I've been there several times this year and never not had the phone answered when I called the first time.

That may have been before they got the office upstairs. I haven't had problems either. They are my go to shop for getting work done on the Miata, even though it's a 30 minute tow each way.

There were issues when they first became Performance Chassis morphing from Hubcap Heaven. Mark was understaffed. Bob Kendrick was not pleased that they charged him $100 to align a Jeep Cherokee that the only adjustment is front toe in.

Nick is new, about 2 months in, and is very customer service oriented. Granted, he's still gotta look out for #1, but he does build rapport well.
