I've always been an OEM kinda guy, but when it comes to wheel bearings has anyone used National or Timken? I've got to replace a wheel stud and wondering if I'm just overpaying (as usual) for OEM honda.

I have used Timken. No issues.

A lot of times you will find Timken, Koyo, and what you get from Honda are the same once you open the box. Not always, but often times my experience when ordering wheel bearings for my Integra.

In the offroad world, Timken was the brand of choice when Dana-Spicer was not available.

We use Timken bearings in the Duff car. They are not actually made by Timken; I think they usually end up being a NTN bearing, which is a good Japanese bearing and also OEM on some Hondas. I've used Koyo's before as well, although I'm not sure if they came out of a Timken box. I generally avoid the National bearings as I don't know anyone who races with them. Maybe they are cheaper because they are domestic, or maybe they are cheaper because they have less creamy bearing goodness inside them? I replace them annually, so I could probably use the cheapest ones, but it's only a few extra $ for the "better" ones, so I buy the Timkens.

Sadly, the made-right-here-in-NC timken hardware is no more. Many of their domestic car bearings are made "over seas".

Because when they fail, they do a lot more than single digit $ damage. (rotor, caliper, A-arm, axle, ... WALL!)
