This was a very much unexpected project for me, I think the bearing for cylinder #2 is bad, hoping it didn't eat a thrust bearing. If it looks like I can get away with just throwing some bearings in it, I probably will and put it back in, otherwise I have another option lined up. It was quite leaky anyway, front main and rear main seals leaking plenty of oil and probably the pan too and the valve cover. This will be a easy way to replace those, assuming the block isn't trashed.

It draws 13.6A. We put one in the Silver Bullet car too - works great. If you get one that doesn't put any heat out it is most likely the t'stat switch is stuck or dirty. Otherwise it is just a resistor and fan. Open it up, clean the contacts and it should work.

A year ago you could buy them off ebay for $30, but they seem to have gone up in price. I guess other racers are on to me.

I think this is the least enjoyable thing I have ever done with a car. I am cutting out a corroded connector in the mini cooper. About half the wires have corrosion under the insulation so they get soaked in vinegar for 10 minutes, then dunked in a baking soda solution, then dried before crimping. Some of the wire colors are repeated on the connector so I am doing them 5 at a time. So far I have restored most of the center console functionality but the tach is still dead.

I've read those things showing the umpteen health benefits and uses of vinegar but never this!

It was cool to see such a dramatic change. Obviously the corrosion is still inside the insulation traveling up the wire but for the area I crimped it went from almost black to bright, new looking copper.

Upgraded the 63mm TB on the 3.0L with the 73mm TB from the new Ford 3.7L. Nearly a bolt-on. Had to make a tapered spacer.
