James Short and I have been hacking away (off and on) at the core service and REST API for my free/open source autocross event operations software, Coner. The API is mostly specified, at least at a high level, and we have a backlog of features to implement. Most of the basic framework and architectural patterns are in place, and there are even a few bits and pieces of features that actually work.

This is a side project for both James and I, and the backlog of features is going to take us a long time to whittle away at our current pace. The project is at a stage where it could benefit from an additional developer or two. If you have experience programming in Java and/or web services and are interested in contributing, take a look at our issue tracker. Anything that's tagged "help wanted" is pretty much fair game. PM me if you're interested.

Step one - remove some plywood so we can frame in the generator door.

Small delay - I discovered neither my welder nor my air hose will stretch out of the garage and up to the front of the trailer. Dooh!

Got the door frame welded in and test fit the generator door.

Now I can put the plywood back up and add some e-track.

Actually, I did it last night. I spent ALL DAY Saturday and most of Sunday working my to-do list at the Animal Hospital - earning my sponsorship money. :D

Door done.

Even VK would approve of my attention to detail - using white screws and white butyl tape to seal the opening.

Replaced my broken axle - pretty sure there were some balls in there at one point. I think they are at VIR now.
Image

Fixed my leaking valve cover - actually leaking oil control valve seal.
Image

Neither Mazda nor Ford list a part number for this seal - it is sold with a new $180 valve cover. After much research, I found an equal from NAPA.
Image

So if you have a Duratec V6 with VVT - here's your $6 seal.

Needed to add defrost to the Mazda cuz some dummy tore out the heater core to save 5lbs. I found an all electric blower/heater from a E30 convertible. Bench test gives a 30+ degree rise.
Image

Made a bracket and mounted it pointing up to the base of my windshield (yeah, I know the steering wheel is missing - another project. )

What are y'all working on?

I need that electric blower/heater. The heater core on the Duff car is FUBAR and it's a PITA to replace. Blowing cold air through the vents works poorly. I also happen to have an E30 convertible sitting at the shop. How difficult was it to remove the blower?

Sorry - mine is from an E36. Oops! The E30 version is much bigger - wouldn't work for me. Either way it is accessible from the trunk as I recall.

Same thought here. I have been wanting to cut up my dash and pull the heater core among other things.

I recently dropped a client and have some time before a new contract starts so I have been cranking on house and car projects. I just pulled the head off of my VVT engine to get it checked for overheating damage. I also have finished carbon fiber versions of my intake parts:

Painting my car's interior:

And I got a 2.5lb Lifepo4 battery and made a tray and hold down system for it:

Unfortunately, this offseason is going to be a quiet one for me. The only thing I have planned is a new suspension and some offset bushings for the front. There is a re-write of my classes's rulebook pending for 2017 so I'm going to sit tight on spending more money on car prep as much as I can.

If I pull the trigger on that blower motor I may do some wiring work as well as build a dash pad for the Miata.

Speaking of bushings, Jonell and I are both getting bushings from a group buy on miataturbo. The outer bushings are delrin, the rear knuckle upper bushing is replaced with a spherical, and then the inner/lowers are poly with a two piece sleeve of teflon impregnated bronze riding on an alloy steel center. The sleeved poly is pretty cool, it won't bind under load and they don't need grease to keep the friction down.. More for weather sealing.
