well, some of my modding back fired on me. I was replacing an aux gauge and I guess I wired something up wrong. Right now none of the gauges, back lights or dome lights work. As far as I can tell from my web research, this is all controlled by the smart junction box (SJB). Is that the entire fuse panel assembly located behind the access door on the passenger side foot well? Is there a single fuse or relay that would control all of those functions? I'd appreciate any help I could here please. Out of town next week and I need to get this up and running before the last autox....

Rodney - In the 2012 there are several fuses for those functions. The SJB is in the passenger footwell area (I think) on mine. You might check the high current fuse box which is under the hood in my car.

Also look for circuit breakers.

Was there "smoke or stink" or major arc?

Does the car start/run, etc?

I'm going to be away from my computer for a few hours but if you can narrow down the involved circuits I might be able to help using my 2012 service manual CD. This assumes that the S197's didn't do a total "redo" of the power distribution systems from the earlier cars.

Thanks for the help Dick. Right now I have no gauges, no back lighting, no indicator lights and only the airbag light in flashing mode. Dome lights are also out. That's all I'm aware of at this time. As for a smell, nope, nothing out of the ordinary. Like I said, the car runs, just nothing in the dash works. I rechecked my wiring and it's all good. Really not sure what the heck happened. I'll have to wait till after work to do more checking of the fuses.... As for circuit breakers, what would trip and what would I reset?

Rodney,

Have you checked the owners manual?

https://owner.ford.com/servlet/ContentS ... rGuidePage

Fuse info starts around page 192.

No access to that site. Yes, I've checked the fuses, but I need to go back over them. I found none that were blown.

Rodney - try ford.com then the owner tab and then the owner manual link.

Rodney,

First, if going to Ford.com and then the owner tab and then owner manuals link under the get answers heading doesn't work send me your email address and I'll email you the 08 manual. (2.57 mb pdf)

Looks like there are too many differences between the 08 and the 12 power distribution. Plus you haven't had a chance to narrow down and/or expand the involved circuits. If a quick check of all the fuses (no circuit breakers) doesn't solve the problem you need to see what works and what doesn't.

Question: When you checked fuses did you "eyeball" only or use a continuity tester/ohm meter? Use a tester if eyeball doesn't work.

My best guess from the names in the passenger compartment fuse box are 5 and 8.

In the main power distribution box under the hood 59, 62, 63, and 67 look like good candidates.

Make sure you didn't disturb any connectors. Sometimes it doesn't take much to open critical connections in a connector without anything looking wrong.

Dick

I think I found my problem. So the fuse in slot 67 located under the hood controlled (at least part of) the SJB in the passenger side footwell. I have a constant power lead feeding an analog clock I installed. When I went to remove the oil gauge, which is the middle gauge, I must have bent the tab to the power feed to the ground of the light on the clock. The clock is to the right of the oil gauge. While dorking around I found the 2 leads very close together. Bend the tab back and installed a 2nd fuse and at this time no issues and no smell. The first fuse replacement I could finally get a whiff of a hot wire and then the fuse blew. I knew this had to be something simple. Now I'm going to wrap the hot ends of the tabs to prevent this in the future.
