This guy wants to know, if his rally car will pass emissions .My only experience has been my wrx, adn the sentra ser.



Hi guys,
Im looking at buying a 91 Rally Car. I live in Wake County, Raleigh, NC. As its a OBD1 car, they don't do the sniffer test? Its a safety inspection correct?

The car has a programmable ECU, so the MIL is on. Will they fail me on that?

If so, were that bulb to tragically burn out, they coudlnt tell anyways right?

'91 would be exempt. (they don't do sniff tests anymore) It would be a visual inspection only. i.e. the inspector is *supposed* to look for all the factory emission equipment, and marginally test it's functionality. (that is thump the cat to make sure there's stuff still in it, etc.)

My '85 dodge van... they don't even bother. It drove in and stopped; that's good enough.

If it has a cat in the stock location, he should be fine.
