The following youtube video was sent to me this morning on the dangers of using E15 fuel (currently on sale in a few mid-western states): http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ceW9Nc1hVHU

I also found the referenced AAA warning on the use of this fuel: http://carolinas.aaa.com/media/Pages/E1 ... tates.aspx

The thing that really caught my attention was the "phase separation" topic, where methanol separates from gasoline when it's been in the tank for a long time. The methanol settles to the bottom. So if you're like me, with an older car that is infrequently driven, seems this would be a problem with E10 too.

Art; Just for the record, methanol is not the same as ethanol, which is the relevant substance here. (Methanol, I believe, would be even worse if a blend was attempted).

I'm pretty groggy since I flew back to NC on a red eye last night. But this quote makes my headache worse.

“Motorists will have to pay more with a gallon of E15 in it to travel the same distance as with a gallon of gasoline.”

No they wouldn't, they just won't go as far.

Actually, that whole press release makes my head hurt. It's written quite poorly.

I wish e85 had caught on instead of putting ethanol in all the other gas. Also, because methanol was mentioned:

What can I say? I like the letter "M". :)
