i have a high idle issue, someitmes when i am driving easy, not going fast, in traffic on hot days, it will idle at 1500 rpm or more, and it wont let hte revs go back down fast, when i let off to shift, it lingers a bit. the temp gauge says its not hot though, it says only slightly abov3e the first warm mark on the gauge. i am stumped. i add water to radiator, it goes away. but a week later it comes back. i dunno where i am losing water too, i know they are notorious for head gaskets. is it that, or my water pump. it runs great, but it gets hot in traffic very easily.i know i have to do my timing belt eventually too. thinking of replacing my water pump at that time. also, i dunno if a sti radiator would help for rally cross in hot weather, or a legacy h6 radiator. :?:

That happened to us this weekend. Engine temp rising and spiking. We noticed water was disappearing, but there was no obvious leaks. Roger thought it could be a small pinhole leak in any number of the old lines; it would evaporate almost immediately so we'd never see it. I noted the overflow reservoir was full, but we didn't connect that dot, when we didn't see any bubbles in the radiator -- the dead giveaway of a head gasket. When Kraig brought it back two sessions later, almost dry, there were *lots* of bubbles... and I'm off to Camden to find a head gasket.

I don't know about subs, but in a honda or vdub idle can be messed up by a vacuum leak, wiring problem, or any number of sensors failing. (or "not connected")

we think we have fixed the idle problem. Dad says my iacv was so full of muck, and small amount of oil blowby or something from the turbo outlet. i have had a oil consumtion mystery for a long time with my car.not bad, but you do have to watch it. anyhow, we totally disassembled it . cleaned it all the way apart. then he reassembled it, i was on the internet looking for parts if we could not fix it.. and reinstalled it, also a little plastic thing broke while reinstalling the intercooler.. but i think we fixed it. anyhow, meetings may be tough for me to make now.. i have a new job coming up, fedex loading trucks. I work eve so i may not make many meetings. so if I disappear dont fret. 8)
