Last summer, just for fun, I threw some in my car mixed in with my 93 octane. The OBD1 puter did not like this at all. As soon as I started revving the car hard it would bog down. Once I burned off most of the tank and went back to 93 it was happy again. Surprised me that it didn't work well...

I've read in the distant past that racing fuel tends to be relatively low volatility (gee, I wonder why). If so, it could be it just wouldn't burn properly in a street engine. That is one reason that even in my carburated Formula Ford engine I only run 93 octane street pump gas. I want lots of low rev throttle response and don't need the octane and doubt that there is any significant power advantage for my engine (low compression and stock cam). I also wonder if racing gas may have lost some of its already low volatility due to long storage time.
