Mine were in Cali over a month. This is also the busy time for shock builders.

YMMV

I know, that's why I said, usually.

Mine were there for two weeks.

Matt, Those are Steward Development re-valves, the same guy who did my Bilstein's on my Miata. In my research on the topic for Miata's, I found there are only 3 "reputable" places in the US to get Bilsteins re-valvaed. Bilstein USA, which many have had bad experiences with in recent years for poorly done revaves. Fat Cat Motorsports in CA who is pricey, but does fantastic work and Bernie Stewart of Stewart Development over near Charlotte. Unfortunately his reputation is spotty. He does a lot of work for NASCAR and that takes priority. Some folks in the Miata community have had great experiences with his work and others have lost their money and shocks with him! I had a fair experience with him, and the shocks on the miata are VERY nice. The dyno plots show he took the time to match pairs. I could go on and on. Long story short, you may be able to contact him and get your shocks re-valved, his prices are reasonable.

Wow, thanks for the heads-up on that Jordan. That was something I was going to try to figure out. After five minutes on the googles, it looks like they used to be big into Spec Miata revalves for around $150/corner with some serious seasonal backlog. Their website is down so they may not be around any longer.

So after putting about 60 miles on them today with a nice drive up to Falls Lake, I'm already used to them but they still sound terrible when backing out of my gravel driveway. Then again, I got used to the sounds of the McMaster style end links on the S2000, and that ain't easy to do. I've also realized the further outside of DT Raleigh you go, the smoother the road gets. They're definitely more sensitive to bumps at lower speeds but the highway speed driving isn't really bad at all.

I'm definitely keeping them and will be excited to see how they feel in Danville. Not sure how to describe it, but they seem to make the car put power down better without making the front pushy. All in all, I'm glad I went this route for now.

Let me know if you want his contact info, I should be able to dig up an email and phone number for you. For what it's worth, maybe it's the tires, maybe the shocks, but they feel more compliant in warmer weather. It could be the change in the oil viscosity, or my imagination.

I look forward to seeing you on course in Danville...fast driver in a nicely prepped Type R. Shawn was always fun to watch in his.

Matches my experience exactly.

My question is, how does Henry like the shocks :).

hahaaaa.. That was my biggest fear actually James.

Ok, I've got these things figured out and we go the smooth way to school from the house (it's only 2.5 miles). He doesn't mind the extra bumps it seems but he'll yell out "bump Daddy" when we can't avoid a doozie. Pretty much anywhere we go other than school is in the sedan.
