So a nice gentleman brought to my attention this morning that one of my headlights is out on the Honda. It looks like the bulb is $175 from Majestic Honda parts but would it be a good idea to have someone test the ballast first before I potentially buy something I'm not sure needs replacement?

I've never had an HID bulb go out on any of the cars so any feedback is appreciated as the S2ki.net forums are coming up empty with posts relating to headlamp aethetics/look for the most part.

I guess the cloudy headlights are now an afterthought..

thanks!

I'm bringing my multimeter with me today to test the red timing cable spool so we can check the ballasts as well.

Sweet!

I just dug a little deeper and found this thread showing how you can nab a set for around $80 on Ebay that are virtually identical to OEM if I need to go that route.

Just swap parts with the working light one at a time. You don't want to play around with a multimeter on the output side of the ballast

This happened on my '01 M5 a while back. Turns out it was the ballast. Picked up a nice used one from Ebay for $75 and been working ever since. If it's the bulb, it's most likely a common bulb you can find for much less than dealer pricing.
