Interesting discussion from some folks that I am not entirely sure understand what driving a somewhat high horsepower decently balanced RWD car can be like.
Like Graham said, don't look for 265x17s as your options will be limited. You can easily run 275s on the front 17x9.5 wheels, just be aware that the car will tramline more than with the narrower front tire. Run 295s, 305s or 315s for the rear 18x10.5 wheels.
Any deep tread tire is going to do fine in the water, but you will be able to light up the rear tires on the dry or the wet at any time with your right foot. Simple fact of having 406hp at 3300lbs and less rubber under you.
I recommend the NT05, but that is because I like the Nittos. Pretty much any 200 treadwear or less tire is going to be fine for a summer tire. But even then you are going to be able to spin the tires if you drive like an idiot. I have daily driven on NT01s with the Cobras as well as the Z06. In the rain, NT01s on the street are slick. Simple solution is to slow down.
Or just do what I did: Slap Hoosier A6s on it and only run it at the track. Keeps down on the mileage.
But, what do I know??? Take Jeb up on his offer and give him a call.
The Goodyears tramline too. It was the first thing that felt funny when I started driving mine compared to a normal vehicle. The NT-01's would probably be not too good in the rain once you had about a month's wear on them. I have them for the Miata and they are good track tires, but I think as DD tires not so good.
My guess would be Bstones, Conti's, Nittos, something with some tread but summer tires. He has a Expedition for really bad weather. I'll not replace the Supercars that are on there too spensive.
