I am helping a friend find a local paint shop that can mix a factory automotive color up and load it into a spray can for him. I assume there are places around that will do it but I can't begin to think who can. Any help would be much appreciated. TIA!

I have used automotivetouchup.com stuff before. Colors matched well enough.

You might want to try something like this http://www.rockler.com/product.cfm?page=17830&filter=touch%20up%20spray%20gun, then you can get color paint mixed at any automotive paint store. The glass jar holds the paint and the compressed gas creates the "spray can" effect. You may need to add thinner to get the best result, but just a little experimentation should do the trick.
I must confess that I have no used one of these, but I have considered buying one.
If the touch up is really small, you could consider getting an air brush paint kit. I picked one up from Harbor Freight pretty cheaply and it does what I needed it to do. You could power it from an air tank for quite a while.
Just random thoughts to give you more to consider.

My boss at the glass company had one of these. It worked fine for touch up work. But at almost $6 for the compressed gas unit it is an expensive way to do much. Charlies suggestion of an air brush seems to be the way to go if you already have compressed air.

There is a place on Market Drive in Raleigh that mixes paint- it used to be called "Car Quest Auto Paint" but they changed their name to something else.
