1st test - turn the volume of the Bullitt up and imagine a race track.
http://youtu.be/LeI1oiBlsowThe blue cross displays g-force - lateral, braking, acceleration. The green dot is the start/finish line. As you pass it your lap time is displyed for 10sec then reverts to timing the next lap. Wadaya think?
The setup is:
iphone4
TrackAddictHD app - $5
http://www.racerender.com/TrackAddict/Features.htmlRaceRender2 editing software - free download
http://www.racerender.com/RR2/Features.htmlThe iphone has the video camera, GPS and accelerometer. The App creates a sychonized video file and a data file (position, speed, g-force, etc). The software combines them and allows additional editing.
So far limitations are: wicked battery hog - really need to run the iphone while plugged in. The free software allows you only 3min clips - unlimited requires the full software - $25. A 10min clip was about 1GB with the video and data quality set a max. You can turn down the video quality and reduce the number of data points to reduce file size.
I'm going to keep playing with it. It looks like you can plot g-force on a time line and compare braking and cornering force from lap to lap. That would be cool.
