here is a picture of a similar oil cooler that I have under the house. It has 2 big banjo bolts that go through the lines, my lines are cut very close. but this will give you an idea of it.

Mike, are you certain it's not the gauge giving you a falsely high reading? 300 seems really high.

FWIW, Jack Harris has long held the notion that the OEM coolers - the things the oil filter mounts to, basically - are well more than enough on B-series engines so equipped. He's kind of a nutjob, but does know his Honda engines. If your motor doesn't have one, perhaps one could be retrofitted?

We just got an engine oil cooler from Carquest, not that expensive. We don't have a gauge so do not know how much it dropped the temp. We also have a couple of shop vac hoses directed at the oil pan. We also run Mobil 1 with an extra 1/2 qt added.

For my track Mustang, I have a cooler from BAT in Sarasota, FL. you can pick the sizes. It dropped the oil temps about 20 degrees down to 250-260.

My guess is that Mike is looking for something super, super cheap, or even free, since it's for a Lemons car. I think you can spend unlimited money on a dragon/rotating turret/periscope/whatever to put on the roof of the car as a decoration, but are limited to $500 total for the actual, you know, *car*.

Mike, is it possible to retrofit a transmission cooler from something else, or even an engine cooling radiator? Maybe one of those half-width Honda Civic radiators from an EG?

We got a used oil cooler from Oscar White, complete with non-pressure-rated, unreinforced crappy hose, cheap hose clamps, and the wrong filter. Perfect.

It's pretty small, I'd be surprised if it takes 10-20 degrees off of our indicated temp. Probably not going to help much if the bottom end is smashing itself to pieces, which is my #1 suspected reason for high oil temps.

Anyone want to place odds on whether we exit the race from spun rod bearings or a broken oil cooler line first?
