Well, to paraphrase Mike a bit earlier in this thread- you can have 2 out of the 3, but not all 3.

Sort of depends on how bad your current seat is, and how picky you are. Nice E30 seats are pretty hard to come by these days, but if you're creative you can usually make something work.

Actually that was not a hijack.

The thread was about an easily fixed Subaru problem, which led to comparisons about how awesome Subarus are compared to BMWs which break all the time, which inevitably led to someone asking a question about their hopelessly broken BMW. Seems perfectly on topic to me.

In fact my other post about starting the Lemons team back up resulted in someone trying to sell me a broken BMW.

I think all threads in the future will end in discussions of broken BMWs :)

it's the automotive version of godwin's law, which is appropriate since both involve germany

Some of us remember when the marque of ridicule would either be British or American.

Says the guy whose wife won't get rid of a rather smashed Lotus and a 27 year old Datsun/Nissan hatchback. But then she doesn't want to get rid of me either.

My current seat the lever to fold the seat forward (its a 2 dr) so my 6 y/o can get in is broken. I have a seat cover on this seat anyways and would most likely just throw that seat cover on whatever seat I can find that works properly.

And touche on the 2-3 comment.

Oh, and I like the older BMW's.... they are easy to work on (unless your putting a starter on an E36) and with my shop/lift its not so bad to do that work when needed.

I am very proud of you.

You might not be so proud when you see what I bought today.

So what are my options to have a car with badly peeling clearcoat on the front half of the car repainted?

Sounds like the Suburban you used to own!

Fortunately for me I don't care what the paint looks like. *cough* I did buy a set of GM aluminum wheels for it and did put a new air dam on the front, but those are the extent of the "look good" mods that it got. The air dam was under $150 and the wheels were only like $400, and those weigh about 1/3 what those steel ones weighed!
