For my STi, I change it every 2k. Why? When it blows up, they can't say I didn't maintain it. - AB

Hey Kendt, if you want to get rid of the noise all together, I conveniently have a set of HLAs that are in good condition. It isn't particularly difficult, but replacing them is at least a 3+ hour job.

75 bucks for the set? (for reference, Mazda wants 60 per and Mazdaspeed wants 40 per)

I drove it for a session at the past CMP event and it drives like a brand new one. If Stephen got it a new paint job you'd think it was new because the interior is still in good shape as well.

You know the motor would blow as soon as he painted it.

Yeah I hear those POS Hondas have head gaskets made from toilet tissue. Besides that would just give him an excuse to swap a H22 with the V-TAK yo! in there.

Thanks anyway, but I'm not a big fan of putting used parts in an engine.

I'll try the Rotella on the oil change before VIR.

The Marvel Mystery Oil trick has worked well for me.

When I bought the car I had the HLA clatter a lot. I put in two cap fulls of the MMO and ran the ever-living-sh*t out of the car (redline every gear, every time) for two days back and forth to work. I then changed the oil and filter and it was about 2 years before the clatter returned.

Maybe I'll put MMO in before the AX this weekend - worth a shot I guess.
